Introduction to Oral History: Winnipeg Life Stories

This course will introduce students to the fascinating world of oral history, memory studies, and storytelling. Projects will focus on Winnipeg past and present. Students will learn about multidisciplinary debates in memory and oral history studies and receive practical instruction in organizing oral history projects, including project design, interviewing techniques, methods for processing interviews, and the many possibilities (written to performance) for presenting the stories gathered through the interviews. This course is open to all, but not recommended for first years students.  Offered in the newly open Oral History Centre in Bryce Hall, students will have the latest audio and visual equipment available to them.
