Summary of each tape
Original field tapes (and cassette copies limiting background noise interference) of conversations and interviews recorded by Professor Margaret Stobie with several native Manitoba Indians (Cree and Chippewan). These interviews, conducted on two separate trips through northern Manitoba in 1965 and 1968, were designed to study the Scotch-Cree dialect called "Bungi". Recordings of comparative dialects from Scotland (Kildonan and Orkney) form another part of the collection. Also included are a folder of spectrographic speech patterns and several transcriptions.
