21 Mar 2017

The University of Winnipeg Oral History Centre is now part of the Sustainable Heritage Network, a network of individuals, communities, and institutions who work together to provide each other with digital tools and preservation assistance. Based out of Washington State University, the Sustainable Heritage Network is a collaborative stewardship project that complements the work of Indigenous Peoples globally to preserve, share, and manage cultural heritage and knowledge. The SHN site features a vast collection of resources for Indigenous led research and archival projects.

The OHC recently attended the Indigenous Digital & Archival Training Workshop, hosted by the SHN from Feb 2 –3, 2017 at the University of Manitoba, Elizabeth Dafoe Library. The workshop was well attended and sponsored by the Sustainable Heritage Network, University of Manitoba Libraries, University of Manitoba Native Studies and the University of Winnipeg Oral History Centre.

The SHN workbench, accessible through University of Winnipeg Oral History Centre is the first of its kind in the region. The OHC offers consultation, educational resources and hands on workshops.
