Introduction to Oral History
Registration Opens: December 15, 2026
In this workshop you will learn the underlying principles of oral history and the practical aspects of undertaking an oral history project including: how to design an oral history project, budgeting time and funds, approaches to interviewing, how to capture quality audio recordings, and how to create complementary text documents that will help to ensure your project is organized, archivable, and accessible to future researchers.
This workshop will be held in person at the Oral History Centre. The full workshop is held over 3 sessions; registration includes all sessions.
Friday Jan. 15th: Introduction to Oral History
Friday Jan. 23rd: Digital Audio Recording
Friday Jan. 29th: After the Interview
This workshop will be in-person at the OHC. Attendance is limited to 12 participants.
Those who wish to attend a single session missed in a past workshop series should contact us directly.
Participants of this workshop may register as OHC Members upon completion of this series. A one-year OHC Membership is included with registration.
Workshop Fee:
• Free for UWinnipeg students, faculty and staff who register using their UW provided email address.
• $100+gst for community members.
